Collection Lookbook

It has been so, so long since I updated, but I have a lot to share! Between working and traveling a little bit, the summer flew by and now it's Fall- I can't believe it, but here we are!

I spent the first half of the summer making a lookbook of my final collection from my time at FIT. On the Fourth of July my dear friends Sujin and Aimee helped me pull together a photo shoot in Aimee's apartment. It was a long, verrrry hot day, but they were so amazing.

Lace-Up Leather Vest

My first project from leather apparel class this semester was a leather vest that I made from recycled leather.

It is a really nice, super beat up black leather. I added real horn buttons for the front closure, and sewed them on with leather strips for the full leather experience.
The back is slightly shorter than the front and has a really subtle curve that looks really cool and drapey on.
The side seams are open and laced up with leather strips. I put the grommets in myself, which involved some really good skills with a hammer (soo fun!), and then distressed the gold with black paint to make them look more vintage and match the quality of the leather. I hand sewed in a super soft striped grey flannel lining for ultimate comfort.

Inspiration and Color for Fall 2012

After checking out a few of the shows from the recent weeks, I was inspired to make up a little board of color inspirations for Fall 2012.

My favorite New York shows by far were The Row and Suno, which I worked with my friends and was a total blast! I would willingly throw away every item of clothing I have, if I could replace itwith the entire The Row collection... check it out here.
Fur, Fur, Fur + pretty dresses, slouchy pants and tube socks with loafers... yes plz.

Fashion Art Portfolio

Last semester was my last art concentration class, where we focused on making a whole new art portfolio, because this semester (the last one!!) we are focused more on constructing garments for our mini thesis collection. I'm not super pleased with how this turned out, so I am going to be working on fixing things, as my dad is making me an amazing portfolio presentation case, so that when I begin interviewing shortly I'll hopefully have some good stuff to show.

The overall theme of these collections was Youth Novels- books from our childhood- and each season is inspired by a different classic- Fall is A Little Princess, Holiday is A Swiftly Tilting Planet, and Spring is James and the Giant Peach.
