This latest portfolio project was supposed to utilize principles of sustainable design. All of the fabrics I used were sustainable(i.e. certified organic cotton, silk, and Tencel) and were all dyed using low-impact dye techniques. Also, the intention was to use local artists to do all of the hand quilting that that jackets would require. Anyways, we had to present the project on boards which I haven't had time to photograph yet, so these are just the figures.
The inspiration was originally little house on the praire/ vintage laura ashley, but it really turned into an Americana themed group.

wow... your prints turned out great. Love the little gingham shorts!
ReplyDeletehow far are the textiles and other materials traveling to get to you? can these clothes/materials be reused after they've gotten past their lifespan?
ReplyDeletetextiles might have to travel a bit since farms and mills that are producing with truly organic fibers/ using environmentally conscious processing methods are not that easy to find. BUT extra time will be allotted for freight by boat which is way less harmful than air shipping. all trims and buttons etc. are vintage and recycled and sourced locally. all fabrics used can be recycled, but are also biodegradable.
