Modeling for RUH by Suji Oh

This past week one of my best and closest friends, Suji, had the honor of being asked to show her new collection of hair accessories at Henri Bendel (avery upscale and fashionable department store here in nyc). Suji handmade every single one of her pieces, and they are all insanely beautiful. When she asked me to be the model for the collection I was so, so honored.

Angelique also did some modeling (and photography, of course), but all of these pictures were taken by the incomparable Paul White. (There are trillions more where these came from!! I just chose a few highlights...)

p.s. here is a behind-the-scenes pic from the prep for the shoot. As you can see, it was verrrry exhausting getting so glamorous.... (although Sue and Suji did a very good job!)

Buy Furs!

I spent the majority of my Spring Break trip to Texas out in the hill country in Roundtop and Warrenton at the HUGE annual antique shows out there. Three full days of digging through millionsssss of old artifacts... pretty fun. And exhausting. The weather was beautiful though (and the Texas wildflowers are INSANE this year!!!) and I found some pretty cool things. Mainly, really old and ratty stuffed animal bunnies (amazing), old trims and buttons, some cool purple glass bottles, andddd FUR! At the beginning of the trip, I told my mom my main goal was to get a scarf with a face on this trip. And the one I found has not 1 face, but FOUR! Best find ever...

Four minks (i think) including their faces, tails, and legs! All for 15 dollars!! I spent the rest of the trip looking for another one in a darker color so i could wear them all at once (for that super-whacky grandma look) but none were cheap enough. Sad day. The search has not been abandoned though....

I also fell in love with this sign, and am going to paint my own...

These people actually had tons of stuff I would have loved to have dragged back to ny with me. There was basically endless inspiration and exciting stuff to be found.

Anyways, when I wasn't freaking people out by modeling my new scarf, I was eating. Texas seriously does have the best. food. ever. I'm still trying to recover. I could probably fast til the end of the semester and still be able to survive after all that good old southern cooking....

New Portfolio Project

This is one of my most recent portfolio projects. It was pretty open-ended, so we were able to choose whatever season/ theme we wanted and just create a sportswear collection. I didn't scan all of the mood and design concept pages, but I think this gives you a pretty good idea...
we had to make have front and back flats for every piece, so i made a separate booklet with each outfit on its own page. i only scanned to booklet cover and page one though...

today is my last day before spring break. i still have an insane amount of work to do over the break, but i am so ready for this regardless. I can safely say that this has been the craziest semester yet.

Remind me again why I didn't go to pastry school...

Deep Fried Cadbury Egg

You read that right. Last night Angelique, Sujin and I got really hungry on the way to dinner and so we stopped at A Salt and Battery, owned by the same folks that have Tea & Sympathy (a super delicious all British tea room), for a snack. We decided to split a basket of the special fish, Sea Bass, and a small order of chips. And then, Angelique saw this sign--

And she made that pouty face. And the rest is history...

Direct quote: Angy- "you can have the last bite if I can lick the bowl"

They don't deep fry candy bars in Korea!!

Probably going to be light on updates for a while... school is beyond insane. Hopefully I'll have some good stuff to show soon though.

Blue Medusa T-Shirt= Awesome

This post has been a long time coming, but I am really excited to share this with you now. For Christmas, my one of my favorite girls ever, Heather, made me this awesome t-shirt. It fits my exact style taste= black, oversized, comfortable and AWESOME. I really love the stenciled zero's and the way the font looks kind of like jail numbers. I love all things criminal-esque.

I'd been waiting to post it til Angy was back from her travels and could take the photos-- we were bored during class so she decided to get all crafty and take these in front of the escalator... I definitely accidentally tripped backwards and started going up. Ha Ha.

Anyways, Heather has an awesome website showing off her creations, but it seems to be out of commission right now. I'll get to the bottom of that situation and redirect you all ASAP on where to go to learn more...

"I love the 90's"- portfolio knitwear project

May I just begin by saying--- I LOVE SNOW DAYS! Yesterday, due to a nice and frosty mini blizzard, school was canceled!! It was awesome! It gave me a whole day to get Valentine's out which was really fun. Too bad I didn't have time to bake treats to go with them... Anyways, I did brave the conditions for a Brooklyn Bagel and post office run, but after that I was content to sit in front of my window and watch it snow the rest of the day...it was lovely.

After couture sewing tonight, I FINALLY headed to the computer lab to use the scanner... Here is my final art project from last semester- a knitwear collection inspired by classic 90's teen movies and tv shows.

One of my top 5 goals for this semester is to turn my closet into an identical copy of Liv Tyler's from the 90's. HELP ME!

There were a lot of directions with this project- not only did we have to choose a decade as a jumping off point for inspiration, but we also had to choose an artist to inspire our color palette. I don't really like to be pushed in so many inspirational directions, but it did lead me to the work of Andrew Hem (seen in my color story page). If you haven't heard of him, check out some of his work, I really like it.
